When one person's comfort is another's pain
AN unsolicited massage in the bus is an irritating experience.
It is when you suddenly feel a pressure on your cushioned back-rest. You turn around to find that the passenger behind you, has his or her knees up against your back-rest.
It may be relaxing for him but painful for you. Have you been a victim? Or were you guilty of doing this to the passenger in front of you?
I have been a victim several times while on my way home from a tiring day at work. There were days when I politely whispered to the guilty passenger "can you please take your knees off?"
Thankfully, most of them complied, despite my small-framed, bespectacled appearance.
There were days when I just avoided confrontation and moved to another seat.
But on some days, I was in the mood for a fight and gave the offender a dose of his/her own medicine.
There's no mystery to why passengers do this. It's comfortable. But please remember, the next time you are tempted to do so, your comfort is somebody else's discomfort!
