Wong Hoong Hooi: Beyond gender politics

The women's movement here seems to prefer to focus on physical violence against women.
Acknowledging that boyfriends and husbands who are dominated also suffer abuse and bullying in silence does not seem to be in harmony with its notion of female victimisation.

Far from being naive, Ms Rose Mary Tan ("End of Abuse Within Reach", Nov 30) sees that focusing on providing the right family environment so that boys and girls are less likely to become abusers is far more positive than finger--pointing gender politics.

No doubt tt husband/boyfriend do get abused 2, however e way tt rose mary tan puts it across, it simply implies tt e wife/gfriend is at fault 2 b abused!!!!

Michael Chua Kheng Hwee: Nagging cause of men's violence

Perhaps the reason men tend to get violent with their wives could be due to the fact they are less articulate. When wives nag them, they may not be able to argue back as well as they would like to. So, they turn to the use of their fists.

The woman might save her skin by cutting down on nagging. The man might avoid his wife's nagging by exhibiting more "desirable" behaviour. The man who sows violence today, shall surely reap it someday.

do women like 2 nag??? y do women nag???? cos tt's e only way tt we can get e dumb ass o a husband/bfriend 2 respond.....being less articulate doesn't give u e rite 2 b violent!!!!
